Saying that we need to get out of “the dream” that there is an “ultimate reality,” the author uses Cornelia Parker’s art to describe some of his ideas about the nature of reality. To those who say the universe is nothing but a bunch of atoms bouncing around, he answers that it’s atoms bouncing around that make things interesting. Looking at a shadow on the wall cast by a musical instrument in the art exhibit, he explains that the shadow is every bit as real as the instrument and as the people looking at the exhibit.
