Spoiler: While asking some probing questions about alcohol, the author explores the gray area in our society that includes people who don’t qualify as alcoholics but whose lives would be better off without drinking. She observes that once we turn 21, we are expected to incorporate drinking into our lives, in spite of the fact that alcohol is a carcinogen. She says that wondering if you can have a healthy relationship with alcohol is like wondering if you can have a healthy relationship with cigarettes.
