In Gates Notes format, Bill Gates recommends Melinda’s book and describes a bit of her journey in writing it, saying she would come back from trips having met sex workers or women struggling to feed their children and that the stories she told him eventually took form in this book. Saying “It’s so interesting!” he notes that Melinda chose to write about women’s issues with the idea that lifting up women helps them feed and educate their children and therefore breaks negative cycles.
